Spivey Homes Custom Home Builder

MOORESVILLE, NC -- Spivey Construction Company, with luxury custom home and commercial divisions based in Mooresville, NC, has completed the construction of the new 6,400+ square-foot Dove House Children's Advocacy Center in Statesville, which celebrated its grand opening on Sunday, Dec. 13. Since 2002, The Dove House had leased a renovated 100-year-old Victorian home in downtown Statesville, less than half the size of the new facility which will better serve the needs of child victims of sexual assault and their non-offending family members throughout Iredell, Alexander and parts of Mecklenburg Counties.

The Dec. 13 Grand Opening event was well attended by supportive members of the community and local media, with activities including The Dove House ribbon cutting ceremony, an official Proclamation by the Town of Statesville, awards to supportive individuals and the dedication of a symbolic magnolia tree in the Center's new Meditation Garden to Jessica Marie Lunsford, whose murder in 2005 and resulting national attention resulted in the passing of "Jessica's Law" in 41 states.

Spivey Construction Owner Willis Spivey has called the Dove House project a 'true labor of love', donating all of the general contracting and construction services to build the new advocacy center. The estimated asset value of the new Dove House is estimated at $2.0 million, proudly confirmed Dove House Fundraising Chair/Board of Directors member Jack Grossman, adding that at this time, 93% of the total cost has been donated by individuals and businesses throughout the Iredell, Alexander and Mecklenburg County areas.

As Willis Spivey said, "Probably nothing is as close to the heart as the well being of our children. The Dove House story is one of amazingly unselfish devotion and determination of many individuals throughout the service area to help children in real need."
